Marc Cherry People Guide,
Teri Hatcher People Guide Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry spoke recently about the show's success, and how he thinks they can still do better.
"We knew we had a winner but never in our wildest dreams could we have forseen an explosion like this," he told Sunday Express. He's happy, however he's eager for more. "We can be as big as Friends, maybe even bigger." Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer) told the newspaper why she thought the show was such a success. "I feel Desperate Housewives has tapped into very real emotions," she explained, "from frustration with relationships to the quiet desperation that can fill the routine of daily life."
Hatcher also said she can't wait to get started on filming season two, and is intrigued as to how far Cherry will go with the characters. "There always has to be a strong underlying sexual element to everything that goes on. It will be interesting to see how much further Marc can push our boundaries."
Now it's hiatus, some of the actors revealed what they'd be doing before filming resumes. Hatcher said she plans to "get away from the Hollywood grind" with her daughter. Nicolette Sheridan (Edie Britt) plans to tour Europe, meeting fans and promoting the show. "It's huge [in Europe] so it's going to be fun," she said. Marcia Cross (Bree Van De Kamp) said: "You won't find me at a bar or at a club but most likely at a yoga retreat." And Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis) will be busy filming The Sentinel. "There are no panties, no bras and I don't have to kiss anyone. It's a welcome change," she admitted.
The newspaper also included what it said was a picture exclusive of the housewives in pink clothes with totally pink furniture. Discuss this news item at Talk Desperate!
