By Antony October 29, 2006 - 9:57 AMCate Adair, Emmy-nominated for her work as costumer designer on Desperate Housewives, has launched her own handbag range.
Adair launched the Cate Adair Collection in her "spare time", she told ETonline.com. "I've always loved accessories. I think they're fun, I think they're sexy, I think they give you a lift." The article noted that her range includes handbags, wristlets and totes are they are made of soft Italian leather dyed in bright tropical colors and are created in eye-catching shapes. "I wanted something that was sort of a happy, uplifted sort of shape. The wristlet clutch I designed because I was sick of evening bags I couldn't get a cellphone in. I'm a mom—can I get a bag that I can get a cellphone in?"
She said she named the products after seashells. "Venus is a shell but it's also a very feminine shape," she explained. "And Pandora is a sea piece, and that's the tote you can get your computer in, since all of us have laptops that are a Pandora's box of info. They also remind me of the ocean and California, and that hill and dale quality."
She also spoke about dressing the Housewives, and she revealed that she found many bargains when browsing second-hand shops. "During the day I can hit Burbank, and on the weekends I do the swap meets. There's great shoes at every price point now."
More info on the range can be found at Adair's website. Although she won't be allowed to feature them on the show, apparently some of the cast have already put in orders. Discuss this news item at Talk Desperate!
