Filming has only just begun on season two, but Marc Cherry has already planned how long he wants the show to run.
"I would love a nice, normal seven-year run," Cherry told The Philadelphia Inquirer. "It's good, it's respectable. That way, we won't overstay our welcome and I won't die of a stroke." Speaking of the season two premiere, he said there would be friction between Bree and Rex's mother over Rex's funeral arrangements. "It's pretty amazing. Let's just say it's a scene you've never seen before on TV."
Meanwhile, Cherry told Inside TV that there would be yet another death in Wisteria Lane, according to The KRCA Channel. Inside TV said there is "a chance" that it would be John Rowland after he joins Carlos Solis in jail. It was also reported that Bree would get insomnia, corroborating season two plot details recently revealed here at Get Desperate. Maisy Gibbons will reportedly also return after spending time in jail for prostitution.
Cherry also spoke about what it takes to keep the show fresh. "The trick is always to come up with relatable but dangerously wicked situations," he said. "I want to keep putting these women in situations where they do stuff they absolutely shouldn't." But it's not just the women who want a look in. "I'd like to see Tom be the favorite new housewife on the block now," revealed Doug Savant (Tom Scavo). "I can host poker games and gab with the girls."
