A host of one of the DVD features for the first season box set of Desperate Housewives has revealed that multiple scenes have been filmed for the season finale.
"For at least one character, two scenes have been shot," Meredith Viera told FemaleFirst.co.uk. "That particular person, as of yesterday, did not know whether they were gonna come back or not come back." Promising the season finale would be "shocking", she said she was unable to reveal anything else. "You are not allowed to say anything. If I were to say anything I'd end up in a toy chest myself."
Alternate endings for TV shows isn't a new phenomenon. Some programs, particularly those with high interest in spoilers, often film multiple endings to a pivotal episode to throw news sources off the scent. Sometimes the decision on which scenes are chosen is made at the last minute to prevent leaks. One such example is 24, which had three endings filmed for its first season.
Meanwhile, the episode in question now has a name. According to SpoilerFix.com the first season will close with "One Wonderful Day", and the episode will see one character in a rehab center, another in jail and the return of Susan's ex-husband Karl.
In related news, ABC has released the official synopses for penultimate two episodes of the season.
For May 8's "Sunday in the Park With George":
George Williams continues to worm his way into Bree's life; Lynette tries to spice things up with Tom who, she fears, is losing interest; Gabrielle's latest man troubles grow even more complicated; and Susan gets a surprise visitor.
For May 15's "Goodbye For Now":
Susan makes a decision about Mike Delfino. Meanwhile Lynette takes steps to make sure Annabel doesn't come between her and Tom, Bree comes to a realization about "buddy" George the pharmacist, and Carlos's legal problems take a turn for the worse
