• Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo) continues to cement her status as a leading Oscar candidate: after already receiving the National Board of Reviews's actress prize and a Golden Globe nomination for her role in Transamerica, she's now also been selected to receive the breakthrough performance award at California's 17th annual Palm Springs Film Festival. ContactMusic reported the event will also be attended by stars such as Jake Gyllenhaal and Charlize Theron.

• Desperate Housewives failed to make MSNBC's list of the ten best TV shows of the year. "Should Desperate Housewives make the list simply because it scores high in the Nielsens and is ripe for online discussion and debate, or should it be left off since the second season has disappointed?," the site asked itself -- and then picked the second option.

• The women from Wisteria Lane may have helped women in their fourties improve their self-esteem, but an AP article published at AZCentral.com notes the show has also put increased pressure on twentysomethings to use anti-aging products, as they are afraid of being overtaken in the looks department by women twice their age.

• The Los Angeles Daily News recently published an article on ABC saying farewell to its long-running Monday Night Football franchise. After 35 years and 555 games, ABC will be expelling the football games to its ESPN sister network; a move it's partially able to make due to the success of new drama shows such as Desperate Housewives and Lost.

• Roger Bart, who played George Williams on DH, last week sat down with 365Gay.com to discuss his role as Carmen Ghia in The Producers. When asked whether fans of the television show will now flock to the movie, Bart said, "That would imply that people loved George so much, that they'd say I can't wait to see what he's in next. It's really a question of whether they'll run from the theater when they first see me. But being a bad guy was thrilling. I'm looking forward to the next really gay creepy role."

• On Sunday, ABC will be airing its second Desperate Housewives clip show. The network will still be paying the show's actresses a fee in order to be able to re-use their work, but Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis) has decided to donate that entire fee to PADRES Contra El Cancer, a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families. • According to IndianTelevision.com, UK broadcaster BBC Three is preparing a reality show called Perfect Housewives, in which hopeless housewives are coached to have their homes end up looking just as perfect as those on Wisteria Lane.

• Meanwhile, DNA India recently posted a brief interview with Nicollette Sheridan (Edie Britt). "I love Edie for how straightforward and unapologetic she is," Sheridan said. "How she feels is how she behaves. I think she’s very smart, which in the [first-season finale], I think the audience is going to see. She doesn’t miss a trick. I think we’re both very strong, forthright and smart. However, I do not have as many men in my life, nor do I care to."

• Felicity Huffman yesterday was quoted in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch as saying there was nothing risky in playing a man becoming a woman. "I'm not a beauty," she said. "That's not my thing. So it wasn't like I was risking anything. What I was risking is whether I could do it. There are many places to fall."
