Desperate Housewives is often credited with single-handedly making women in the 40s cool again in Hollywood, but it's not just the women who have benefited, as James Denton (Mike Delfino) has proved.
"I'm not like a kid who hit it big when I was 20 or 25," 42-year-old Denton told kitsapsun.com. "Finding success at my age is a little bit like winning the mini-lotto. It's not like the lottery, but it does provide a little bit of security. If I get killed off now, I can only hope that someone would want to hire That Guy Who Used To Be On Desperate Housewives."
Denton explained that he also enjoys the other opportunities afforded to him thanks to his role on Desperate Housewives. "Other than a bit of job security, finding this kind of success at my age allows me to enjoy things like doing [Dave] Letterman or [Jay] Leno talk shows. I get to enjoy things more than I would if I had found this kind of success when I was younger. I guess I can appreciate it more."
However Denton doesn't expect a movie career to flourish. "The days of [movie] offers are gone," he said. "They are still there for [other 40-year-old] guys like Brad Pitt, but not for me."
