While promoting the second season DVD box set, Andrew Bowen (Julie Mayer) said that viewers can expect to see a more indepenent getting more of her own storylines in season three.
"Julie definitely has more of an independent storyline this season that's not so heavily dependent on [Susan]," she said, according to CanMag. But probably scared of starting more rumors of on-set fighting, she said she's still happy to appear with her on-screen mother played by Teri Hatcher. "I love working with her and I have a blast and she's fantastic. But it's just kind of nice to have another path to take. [Julie's] growing up more and she's going to be involved in a lot more relationships and she is dating more and she's going to have one prominent relationship over the season and one strong love interest."
Shawn Pyfrom will be back as Andrew Van de Kamp, but said he doesn't know his character's intentions. "I don't know if he's going to get more evil or if he's going to get nicer," Pyfrom said. "There's always that possibility. I honestly have no idea just because I've maybe only shot one episode."
Brenda Strong (Mary Alice Young) is positive that the show will return to form. "Season Three is going to start out with as big of antics and mystery and humor and of course sex, as we had in season one, so I think you're going to find people are going to feel like wow, this is great, because we hit the ground running."
