• With the 2005-2006 TV season finishing this week, ABC's ratings are up but it still didn't win in the two key categories. According to Hollywood Reporter, CBS beat ABC in total viewer numbers with its 12.6 million average surpassing ABC's 10.8. Fox was third on 9.9 million and NBC fourth with 9.7 million. In the lucrative 18–49 demographic Fox's 4.1/11 average just beat ABC's 4.0/11. CBS managed 3.8/10 and NBC languished with 3.3/9. Overall ABC was up 7% in total viewership in the last year, and up 8% in the 18–49 demographic. ABC came top in the demographic of household incomes over $100,000.

• The Desperate Housewives fragrance will make its debut at Macy's this September, according to Now Smell This. Forbidden Fruit, by Firmenich, "is a fruity floriental. Top notes are of crisp Rome apples, orange flowers and ripe, juicy peaches, with a heart of wisteria, jasmine, ylang-ylang and passion lily. The drydown is of cedarwood, sandalwood, vanilla and tonka bean."

• TV Watch analyzed product placement in TV programs, and said it was easier for the likes of Marc Cherry to stand up against product placement as his show is more successful. Meanwhile Cherry spoke about the threat posed by the potentially intrusive advertising. "There's growing concern that if the advertisers start to dictate a story line, just how horrible that would be," he told Chron.com.

• New York Times took a look at the season finales of US shows, and said Desperate Housewives was "pumping up the suspense about sex and adultery" with it finale.

• Kathryn Joosten (Mrs Mcluskey) recalled teaching actor Vince Vaughn when he was younger, and said he was an actor from an early age as he "could turn on the tears in a moment", reported cbs2chicago.com.

• CNN looked at the fall schedules of the networks, and questioned whether ABC would command the advertising rates it did last year.

• IGN reviewed the DVD of The Producers which stars Roger Bart (George Williams).

• Rick's Cabaret International, a chain of "gentlemen's clubs", has partnered with off-Broadway comedy Burleigh Grime$ which stars Mark Moses (Paul Young), according to a press release at Business Wire.

• The upcoming Desperate Housewives computer game was mentioned briefly at the Girls 'N' Games Conference according to Gamasutra. "Desperate Housewives the game targets an interesting market," said Nicole Lazzaro of XEODesign.

• ABC-owner Disney plans no major acquisitions according to Mickey News.

• Mike Pesca at NPR said he is obsessed about Desperate Housewives thanks to its "pizzicato violins".
