• Jennifer Armstrong reviewing for EW.com said the episode was "first-rate", but should dump its attempts at mystery:

  I'm begging now: No more mysteries on Desperate Housewives. Please. I say that because this was the kind of episode that makes one think of phrases like 'back at the top of its game'—good God, this was the kind of episode that makes one care what happens to Susan—except for one thing: those annoying scenes where people I don't give a damn about were still blathering on about Deirdre and birth fathers and toy chests and Paul and Mike and Zach like it's 2004 or something. And jeez, Noah? I'm not sure I even cared about him last season.

• Dave Anderson at TV Guide Online was also more positive about Susan, but didn't seem to mind stories that related to late season. "Great scenes with Susan, Edie and Carl—nice to see Susan more in charge and that the "joke" was more on Edie than Susan for a change. Speaking of change, I'm glad Paul Young and Mike Delfino are on the same side now, uniting to protect Zach."

• Keith McDuffee reviewing week for TV Squad seemed positive about the Solises wanting to adopt a baby, but was not as positive as the other reviewers when it came to Susan. "Her story's not worth talking about, to be honest. Something in that part of the show needs to change. Throw some tragedy her way or something. She's just too ditsy, and I think it distracts too much from the rest of the show sometimes."
