By Antony September 22, 2005 - 8:32 AMEva Longoria admitted recently that she was worried Desperate Housewives wouldn't be able to match the standards of the first season, but said her mind was changed when reading the script.
"I was nervous to come back because we'd had such a great first year," she said in an appearance on Good Morning America (via a video at Eva Longoria Tribute). "You get nervous that you can't top it." But her worries were unfounded and, echoing recent comments by James Denton (Mike Delfino), she said the season two premiere was hilarious. "When I read the first episode of season two, we were crying laughing it was so funny. Very funny."
Longoria explained that there was gossip that Gabrielle's pregnancy was written into the show because she was pregnant in real life. Of course it was just another rumor, but Longoria said that Gabrielle will still be two months pregnant when season two begins as the story starts exactly where season one left off. "It's the next day. The cliffhanger was Susan ... held up by Zach, and literally the first scene is that same setting."
Recently ranking at #1 in the Maxim Hot 100, Longoria said that it was an honor to top the poll. "I find it funny. Our whole industry's built on lists and rankings [... but] I'm honored, I love Maxim magazine, it's a great men's magazine. It's really done with class, and really showcases women with beauty and intelligence, and this list is composed on what you're doing in your career, what you're doing with philanthropy ... how you look, obviously, but it encompasses a lot more than 'she's hot', I would like to think."
The show also aired a clip of season two, the same one that was recently shown on Regis and Kelly. In it, Gabrielle is in prison visiting Carlos, and she pleads for forgiveness.
