It's now been announced that Gameloft has signed a deal with Touchstone to bring Desperate Housewives and Lost to this market early next year.
"Both Lost and Desperate Housewives have loyal and dedicated fans, and we are excited to be able to bring them more ways to interact and engage with their favorite shows and characters," said Bruce Gersh, senior vice president of business development at ABC Entertainment and Touchstone Television. "We look forward to working together with Gameloft to develop games that capture the defining essence of each show."
Gameloft were similiarly positive about the link-up. "Gameloft is proud to partner with ABC Entertainment and Touchstone Television to bring the popular Desperate Housewives and Lost series to mobile gamers," said Michel Guillemot, president of Gameloft. "We are excited to develop and deliver games based on these shows to over 1 billion mobile users worldwide."
Gameloft is a "leading international publisher and developer of video games for mobile phones". Founded in 1999, it creates games for mobile handsets equipped with Java, Brew or Symbian technology. The total number of mobile handsets with this technology is expected to exceed two billion units in 2008 according to research quoted by Gameloft.
The mobile games are due for release in early 2007. A Desperate Housewives PC game is also under development by Buena Vista Games and is set for release later this year. Discuss this news item at Talk Desperate!
