May 22, 2005 - 9:49 PMHello World! So, I saw Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith yesterday. Wow.
And that's the word I often feel with Star Wars: "wow". Okay the acting is often hammy (I'm sure actors actually get worse when on a Star Wars set) and the dialogue can be dodgy. But Star Wars is great. There's something about it that just really takes me away, gets me involved, and gets me emotionally invested—and really, that's what movies are all about.
It was a tragic film which is of course to be expected. I'm not sure it's my favorite, I might like Attack of the Clones more. But I really need to watch Revenge of the Sith again to absorb all its details and get a firmer opinion.
I did have some issues. Mostly that Anakin's turn to the dark side was too quick and not believable. I know it's been alluded to a lot, and we know he goes to the dark side of course—and I wonder if that's part of the problem. It's a case of "you know he's going to go evil, viewers, so just go with the flow". But after he does make the move, I think the filmed picked up and was excellent to the end.
I imagine everyone has pretty set views on Star Wars and whether they'll watch it or not. But believe it or not, there can be late adopters. I saw The Phantom Menace before I saw the original trilogy. I'm surprise I even watched the original trilogy after that actually, because The Phantom Menace was pretty bad. But I did watch it, and consider myself a Star Wars convert now. So I recommend every goes to see it.
I wonder if a TV series will get off the ground. But either way, I join the call of people at the UK premiere of Revenge of the Sith: "three more films!" Talk Desperate! threads Below are some of the topics currently being discussed at Talk Desperate!:
