With such a female-based cast, rumors of tensions among the cast are quite persistent—particularly after the rumblings of arguments at the Vanity Fair photoshoot. But Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo) played down any rumors, and recently talked about the pros and cons of working with women.
"The best thing is I grew up with women and I love them," she told Channelnewsasia.com. "I love their enthusiasm and their sense of community. I think women create community and friendships. So that's great." Discussing the possible cons, she said: "I guess the hardest thing is that women are more complicated than men and take things harder and they're, you know, a couple of notches tighter than men."
Like the other cast members, Huffman once again played down rumors of a rift, revealing a conversation between Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer) and Nicolette Sheridan (Edie Britt) "I heard a little bit of stuff about the cat fights," she said. "Teri just came in one day and said: 'You guys, this is awful. Does [the bad press] affect you?' And Nicolette said: 'Who cares?' Nicolette has been through it all. I think that sort of put it to bed for everybody."
Huffman also revealed a very "Lynette" moment when she got annoyed with her own children once. "My kids are only three and four now. They weren't sleeping and I was exhausted and my husband was away for three months ... finally, I got them down, and my daughter just kept calling me in and calling me in and calling me in. I lost my temper and I was like: 'I'm going to walk out now because I'm going to explode.' And I walked out and I grabbed a really nice chair, I went out in the driveway, and I just shattered it."
