Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis) spoke recently about her failed two-year marriage to actor Tyler Christopher, and said she feels she was too young to tie the knot.
"You don't know who you are when you're in your twenties so I think it's really difficult to be selfless," she told S, the Sunday Express magazine. "You actually have to be selfish because you need to learn about you and what you want and which direction you're heading in life. I don't think I'll be ready to get married again until I'm well into my forties."
Although linked to men including 24's Butch Klein, Longoria said it's not easy in Hollywood to find a partner. "Dating is very difficult," she said. "Meeting people is difficult, period. LA is a difficult place to meet people anyway, and Hollywood is such a small community. But I don't make it a rule just to date other actors and people in the entertainment industry. It could work out with me and a dentist. It could work out with me and a lawyer. Or it could work with me and an actor. It just depends on the person. I don't limit myself and close off my mind to other opportunities as they may arise."
Having put her twenties behind earlier this year when she turned 30, Longoria said that she embraces getting older. "I'm like, 'Bring it on!' I'm very excited about my thirties—I think it's going to be a great time in my life. And then I can't wait until my forties, too. I think every decade that passes you just get wiser and you have so much more experience and you're able to deal with things better. I've always been confident with who I was, but my twenties were hard. I had to learn a lot of life lessons and I think my thirties will be a little easier because of all the wrong turns I took."
Longoria said her character has also changed, even if she is just one year old in TV terms. "I love the arc she has had this year from being rich and spoiled to having to provide for herself. I like that the character is evolving, not even to a better person, but to a different person, because I think that's what happens in life, we evolve into new beings every so often."
