Countering the inevitable tabloids rumors of cat fights and egos on set, Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer) said she doesn't consider herself to be the star of Desperate Housewives.
"I think nobody thinks they're the star of the show," she told The INSIDER. "I watched it with some friends and family last night, and I would say 'Oh, here's a part I don't know anything about'. It's almost like getting to watch a show you're not in, because there's so much you're not in. And I love watching the other girls work, they're all genius."
When asked if the characters would explore plastic surgery next season, Hatcher feels her character wouldn't do that. "I'm kind of trying to embrace just being real," she said. "That's [...] one of the aspects that is really fun for me—I have in the past played a lot of sort of glamorous, bitchy, whatever characters—to be somebody who is closer to me, and real and flawed. I'd like to stay real and flawed. Let's see if Hollywood does."
With interviewer Pat O'Brien continuing the plastic surgery questioning, Marcia Cross (Bree Van De Kamp) gave her views. "I think about in terms of if my parents had had plastic surgery—which, you know, they're no where near anything like that—and I would just miss their faces, the originality of their older faces. [..] There's something about the aging process that's actually interesting."
