Whereas as the previous season finales for Desperate Housewives saw a spike in ratings, as they brought to a close mysteries such as Mary Alice's murder and the secrets of the Applewhites, the season three finale yesterday gained ratings consistent with recent episodes.
According to figures released by Zap2it, "Getting Married Today" scored a 11.8 rating with a 18 share. These figures mean that of all households in the United States with television sets, 11.8% were tuned into DH, as well as 18% of those households actually watching television on Sunday at 9:00pm.
Those numbers were improved on last week's, 10.0/16 and largely in line with the 11.0/17 the week before. Compared to last year, Housewives received 15.5/25 for the season two finale Remember.
As usual it did win the 9pm hour, with FOX in second for once with the season finales of Family Guy and American Dad. CBS had to settle for third place with with the movie Million Dollar Baby.
Overall ABC came first in total households with its 8.1/14 clearly ahead of CBS's 5.4/9. ABC was also top in the all-important 18–49 demographic, but its 4.6 ahead of FOX's 3.5.
ABC remained first in the 10pm hour, with Brothers & Sisters ending it season with a suitably strong 8.6/14 and a second season on the way. CBS and NBC vied for second place.
