Online reviewers have weighed in on ABC's latest Desperate Housewives.

Here's what they had to say about "Live Alone And Like It":

  • David Thomas at TV Squad said he felt the episode was focused more on the characters rather than plot. "This is one of those episodes I like to quaintly call 'character development' filler. Not much happens to move the overall plot of the series, but we get a deeper look into the lives of our favorite housewives. The biggest revelation tonight is Bree's admission that she is a truly religious woman. One that believes her gay (or bisexual since he likes vanilla and chocolate) son is headed to hell if he doesn't go straight." You can read the full review here.

  • Ann Hodgman reviewing for EW.com also felt this episode was light on plot developments. "'Don't worry!' the writers seemed to be reassuring us, 'We're saving everything good for the season finale!' This week's plot advances approximately one eighth inch forward, as if the writers wanted to give us time to digest everything they fed us last week," wrote Hodgman. She was also critical of Susan's mother. "Sophie will be a problem for this series unless she, too, can manage to get herself murdered. Every time she's on screen ... the show devolves into generic sitcom and becomes an old Bewitched episode where Endora drops in uninvited. Part of what makes DH work is its claustrophobic, sealed-in quality. When secondary characters breach the security of the DH hothouse, they dilute its atmosphere." You can read the rest of her review at EW.com.

Jeff, reviewing at Desperate for Desperate Housewives, also didn't like Sophie, but disagreed with other reviewers that there wasn't much plot development. "Susan's mother annoyed me. I've been spoiled about that plot for several weeks now so it may just be that I knew too much about the plot to care. It was sweet of Sophie to go to Mike and try to get him to work things out. And speaking of Mike... of course, it wasn't a huge shock to anyone paying attention that Deidre was the woman in the box that used to be buried in the pool. But the movement forward on that storyline was massive: Mike knows she's dead, Noah knows she's dead, we know Mike killed a cop, and Mike knows that the Youngs are mixed up in this adventure." You can read the full review over at Desperate for Desperate Housewives review, as well the site's scene-by-scene analysis.

  • Danny Spiegel writing for TV Guide Online talked about Andrew Van De Kamp, and the absence of his sister:

"Just when you think Andrew doesn't totally despise his Stepford mom, he suddenly reveals himself to be a near sociopath. (Of course, let's not forget his callous attitude about running down Carlos' mother.) So was he bragging to Reverend Sikes for the sheer thrill of detailing a diabolical plan? Regardless, he's quite a liar. He's either deceiving the reverend, his parents, himself, the ice-cream man or all of the above. Bree's warped reaction wasn't unexpected, but this revenge scheme by Andrew is a whole new level. By the way, isn't it convenient how Danielle Van De Kamp is never around?"
