  • Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker said she has no regrets turning down the role of Susan Meyer, which apparently Marc Cherry originally wrote with her in mind. "At the time, I felt I could not serve the show as well as someone else could," she said, according to newKerala.com "And I was right. Teri [Hatcher] is so great in that role and I could not imagine anyone else playing that part. We all ended up where we belong." Parker's comments come after she grabbed the best actress Golden Globe this year for Weeds, beating last year's winner Hatcher.

  • Jeans made and decorated with a pure platinum thread by Gekko, and signed by celebrities including Shawn Pyfrom (Andrew Van De Kamp), are now up for auction at Clothes Off Our Back. Proceeds benefit children's charities.

  • Charles McDougall, who directed the pilot of Desperate Housewives, will direct the first two episodes of Showtime's The Tudors, reported MENAFN. Scheduled to air in 2007, it details the early years of King Henry VIII and will star Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

  • The Shreveport Times reported on escalating cable and satellite TV costs, and pointed the finger at highly-paid stars including Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis) who they allege is making $250,000 per episode of Desperate Housewives.

  • Robert McNeil at Scotsman.com took a look at Desperate Housewives, and how bad things happening in stories makes for popular TV.

  • Right-wing Christian groups in the US have accused the Golden Globes of favoring movies with homosexual themes, such as Felicity Huffman's TransAmerica, according to iafrica.com.

  • Feminist and activist Gloria Steinem commended Desperate Housewives as a sign of progress, according to Starpulse. "Desperate Housewives is funny. It has the word desperate in front of it, which is a sign of progress. It certainly is enough to slow any movement into the suburbs."

  • James Denton said he won't sing at the Miss America Pageant, reported WXII12.COM. Apparantly the words "There she is, Miss America" are normally sung, but Denton said he has no reason "to go out on that limb" and the words will be sung by a mystery guest.
