By Antony November 20, 2005 - 10:49 PMHello World! I love music, and I love finding new music. Admittedly my CD buying is now tailing off since I joined Napster, where for a subscription I can listen to all the legitimate music that I want, but the act of finding new music is still fun.
But as I love discovering new music, I will try to make suggestions in this column from now on. By all means discuss what you think of the artist, or suggest your own, by clicking the link at the bottom of this page to discuss it at Talk Desperate!
Today I suggest Ray LaMontagne. Not because I'm a fan, but because I just found out about him and my first impressions are very good. I'm not sure how I'd describe his music. Quite low key, understated and heartfelt. I would say there are shades of Damien Rice and Ryan Adams. Click here to visit his website and take a listen.
Which brings me to one related note. I respect artists that give full songs on their website to listen to, sometimes whole albums. Websites that try to hold on dearly to their material, providing low quality 30 second clips, just don't give me enough of a taste of an artist and ultimately will not encourage me to buy.
