Expect things to get heated between Gabrielle Solis and Sister Mary. Very heated.
The upcoming battle between them, which Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry said recently takes TV catfights "to a much naughtier place", concerned Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis) due to its location, she said in an interview with ExtraTV.com. "I felt terrible because we shot in a church," Longoria said. "And we fight on the altar." But Melinda Page Hamilton (Sister Mary) defended her character's intentions ahead of the spat. "I'm not going after [Carlos's] body. I'm going after his soul!"
Meanwhile, ABC News reported that Maria Conchita Alonso has been cast as Gabrielle's mother Lucia. Gabrielle has not spoken positively about her mother, so her arrival is unlikely to be welcomed by Mrs. Solis. Alonso's publicist said the actress is overjoyed to be guest starring on the show. "She's extremely ecstatic and she loves the role," said Rona Menashe. "She watches the show and loves it."
Cuba-born Alonso made her US movie debut in Moscow on the Hudson and has also starred in The House of the Spirits and Chasing Papi. TV appearances include CSI: Miami and The Outer Limits.
The Gabrielle/Sister Mary catfight is due to occur in "There's Something About a War", which airs this Sunday on ABC. Alonso is currently due to make her debut in the as-yet-untitled February 19 episode.
