Book publisher Hyperion yesterday announced that it will release a dating guide written by Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo) and Patricia Wolff, Huffman's friend since college.
According to Hyperion, the book will be a "tongue-in-cheek guide for every woman who is looking to build a better boyfriend-and every guy looking for help in the dating arena—this irreverent compendium will provide information on the uncharted, sexy, challenging, adventurous, and totally confusing world of male-female relationships."
"We hope that A Practical Handbook for the Boyfriend is to dating what Motor Trend is to the car enthusiast, what Zagat is to the diner, what Hustler is ... well, you get the point," said Huffman and Wolff. Hyperion president Robert S. Miller said: "A Practical Handbook for the Boyfriend is the funniest and at the same time most insightful look at human courtship rituals that I have yet to read, and could only have been written by two women who have been trading war stories from the relationship front for years."
The book is due in November 2006, and Huffman follows in the footsteps of Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer) who is writing a book for Hyperion called Burnt Toast. Hatcher hopes to inspire other women with her "inspirational" non-fiction book.
With a book deal in place, an Emmy under her belt and Transamerica a film circuit success, Huffman is undoubtedly on a high. But there could be more good news for the Desperate Housewives actress, as a number of commentators are tipping Huffman as an Oscar contender. USA WEEKEND, New York Times and David Poland have all mentioned Huffman as a possible best actress nominee for her role in Transamerica.
