Online reviewers have weighed in on ABC's latest Desperate Housewives.

Here's what they had to say about "Goodbye For Now":

  • Ann Hodgman reviewing for EW.com was pleased that the episode granted some of her recent wishes:

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I expressed longing for a DH scene that would make me scream out loud? I didn't know how quickly, and how lavishly, my prayer would be answered. But then, I also didn't know what could happen to men like George when they play miniature golf with gals like Bree. Only Bree could make a line like 'George! Do you have an erection?' sound so righteously indignant ... And remember a couple of weeks ago when I was longing for another poker game? That prayer was answered too, though a little halfheartedly. Instead of settling down to play, Edie carries a bowl of grapes around and around the table while she persuades the other housewives to 'intervene' with Susan about Mike. Although Susan's nose gets redder than usual as they speak, she blithely refuses to listen to her friends. But she almost immediately begins to re-suspect Mike when she finds Mrs. Huber's diary in his truc—thus rendering the first collective-housewife scene in recent memory completely unnecessary. Never mind. At least they started to play poker.

To read her full analysis, in which she also welcomes the return of Justin and explains why the ending of the episode could be perceived as racist, head over to EW.com.

  • Jeff, who has returned to review for Desperate for Desperate Housewives, seemed satisfied at what this episode offered. "Next week, according to the official spoilers, 'past actions come back to haunt the men and women of Wisteria Lane', but I think we got a lot of that tonight. Tom learned about Lynette sabotaging his promotion; Carlos's previous beatdown for the cable guy came back to haunt him; Susan and Mike learned lots about what was actually going on with the Youngs; and George's pill switch and Rex's S&M combined for some major drama for Bree. Months ago someone from the show was quoted as saying that various plot threads would come together by the end of the season and that definitely happened tonight." You can read his full review where he too welcomes the return of Justin, as well as a scene-by-scene analysis.

  • Danny Spiegel chose to give a rundown on how it was a bad week for the guys at TV Guide Online. "[Rex] gets more bad pills, is insidiously framed for blabbing about his S&M fetish and, to top it off, has a heart attack thanks to George, while his loving wife makes the bed. Pillow-fluffing has never been so bitterly cold in its execution." But he also noted who may have come out okay: "I guess the only guy who had a good day was George. But he had to act like an immoral bastard to do it. No, wait, I almost forgot—the construction worker who got to hook up with Edie had the best day, by far. Nice going, dude!" You can read the full review here.

  • John Duran at InsidePulse.com posted a recap of the episode. In his "final word" Duran said: "I'm sure this was the best show on TV Sunday night, as the ratings clearly indicated. Rex/Bree/George carried the show, with Carlos/Lawnboy/Gabrielle tying with Zach/Felicia/Paul/Mike for second and Susan and Lynette bringing up the rear for just not being that interesting, despite Tom and Lynette's marriage seeming to hit the skids pretty soon."

  • There is also a brief summary at Television Without Pity, where visitors have so far rated the episode B+ in a poll.

  • Finally, to tide you over to the season finale, there is a new episode of Desperate Houseflies online.
