While she has no intentions to quit Desperate Housewives, Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis) has said that this will be her last TV role.
"I would never leave Desperate Housewives," Longoria told The Associated Press, according to The Earth Times. "I love doing both [TV and film], but I would never do another TV show after Desperate Housewives. No." She said in particular she wanted to play strong women, and star in a romantic comedy. She even has some ideas on who she'd like to star with. "I love actors like Vince Vaughan, Jim Carrey, Matthew McConaughey and Hugh Grant."
By indicating her desire to leave the small screen, she joins countless other actors and actresses who have said the same (and often failed in their desire to escape TV), but we won't know if she gets her wish until after Housewives has finished. But she's already trying to get some big screen films under her belt while still working on Housewives.
Longoria's last movie, The Sentinel, made its North American box office debut in April. It starred Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland and grossed just over $36 million domestically. Her next role is in How I Met My Boyfriend's Dead Fiancée, with Longoria playing a ghost. Its due for release in North America in September '07.
But is Longoria trying to upset that other TV-to-film actress Jennifer Aniston? Longoria attracted attention last year because of her t-shirt saying "I'll Have Your Baby, Brad", referring to Aniston's ex-husband Brad Pitt. Now she wants to star in a romantic comedy with Aniston's new squeeze Vince Vaughan. Watch out Jennifer, you may have competition. Discuss this news item at Talk Desperate!
