New online rumors suggested today that Ricardo Antonio Chavira (Carlos Solis) can stop worrying about not being asked back on Desperate Housewives -- but also said that with that newfound job security come some rather confining quarters.
Last week, TV Guide's Michael Ausiello revealed that in the season finale, Carlos will do something that will increase his jail time from eight months to eight years.
In this week's edition of his Ask Ausiello column, Ausiello said that Carlos's longer prison sentence isn't a way of writing him off the show. He quoted DH creator Marc Cherry, who recently told him that he's constructing a prison set Chaviro will be shooting his scenes in next year. "He'll be in there for a while," Cherry said. "We'll see him pulling strings from inside the jail cell."
So if Carlos is coming back next year, which of the Desperate Husbands will be buying the farm in "One Wonderful Day?" Ausiello refused to give an exact answer, but did narrow down the possibilities. "The character is male," he wrote. "And it's not Paul. Or Mike. Or Carlos."
Meanwhile, a rumor for Desperate Housewives' second season that appeared on the internet last week, now turns out to be untrue after all. Last Monday, the British tabloid News of the World reported that EastEnders soap star Kacey Ainsworth had been hired for a three-episode guest stint on the show, playing a nanny. The paper quoted a shocked Ainsworth as saying, "You're not meant to know about that." However, competing tabloid The Mirror last week published a denial from Ainsworth's agent, who said that "Kacey categorically hasn't ever been approached by Desperate Housewives." It is unknown whether this is true and the Ainsworth casting was simply a tabloid invention, or whether Ainsworth simply failed to secure the role.
