The first official piece of merchandise to be unveiled was the region 1 (North American) release of the first season DVD box set. However with more products now announced, fans should be able to find something to help satisfy their Desperate Housewives urges.

The first season DVD box set has now been announced for the UK market. According to Amazon.co.uk, it will be released on October 10 2005, and like the region 1 release will be on six discs. There are no details on extras yet. Although these are for the UK, the DVDs are compatible in region 2 territories, namely: Europe, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East including Egypt. Other local versions are bound to be released in the future.

The artwork for the DVD box set can be seen to the right, and differs to the region 1 release. However, the price is similar. Many DVD companies choose to inflate the price in region 2 territories, sometimes by as much as 200%. However Buena Vista Home Entertainment hasn't chosen to do this, and the pre-VAT price of the box set in the UK is only a few pounds more than the equivalent price of the US-release.

American counterpart Amazon.com is also listing some new, upcoming products. Cardinal Industries has created a Mysteries of Wisteria Lane Game. According to the official description, players compete to be the first to guess the identity of the 'Desperate Housewives Secret Character' concealed in the 'Behind Closed Doors Envelope'. Each play assumes an identity of a character, then travels the houses on Wisteria Lane gaining knowledge as they go. The game is due for release on July 15.

Amazon.com is also listing a Desperate Housewives 2006 Wall Calendar. Published by Hyperion it is set for release on July 1 2005. Finally, the site is listing Desperate Housewives: Behind Closed Doors, a book of almost 200 pages which is set for release on September 14 2005.
