Shawn Pyfrom (Andrew Van De Kamp) has signed on to the movie The Darkroom—his first major film role, and the first time in a number of years that he's appeared on the big screen.
Pyfrom will play Stanley, according to Fangoria, a nerdy 15-year-old boy who lives with his alcoholic mother and his stepfather Bob. As Pyfrom turns 19 in August, it means he'll be playing a character three to four years young than he really is. His mother will be played by Xena's Lucy Lawless and Alias's Greg Grunberg.
The film focuses on a nameless man suffering from amnesia, played by Reed Diamond, who has rotted away in a mental institution for over ten years. He is subjected to an experimental drug, but rather than helping him it he makes him suffer from violent hallucinations. He escapes the institution, and he then befriends Pyfrom's Stanley.
The film is written by Mike Hurst and Mark Altman will be directed by Hurst. The two have collaborated on House of the Dead 2 and Room 6 recently. "The Darkroom is very dark," Altman told Fango. "It's our Silence of the Lambs. We've been very happy with Mike's work on the last few films, so he went right into Darkroom while he was in post on Room 6."
Pyfrom's last appearance on the big screen was a small part in Max Keeble's Big Move in 2001. He also appeared in 2000's Pay It Forward.
