Desperate Housewives suffered more ratings erosion in the face of a the season finale of Survivor: Panama — Exile Island yesterday, but Grey's Anatomy put in a typically strong performance and ABC won the night.
According to figures released by Zap2it, "No One Is Alone" scored a 12.7 rating with a 19 share. These figures mean that of all households in the United States with television sets, 12.7% were tuned into DH, as well as 19% of those households actually watching television on Sunday at 9:00pm.
These numbers were down from last week's 13.2/20, which in turn were down from the previous week's 13.4/20. CBS came second in the hour with the second half of the Survivor two-hour season finale, and NBC came third with Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
At 10pm CBS aired a Survivor reunion show and dropped to third, and Grey's Anatomy surged ahead with a 14.0/22 rating—up significantly on its 13.5/21 rating last week.
Earlier in the evening NBC's the West Wing bowed out, ranking behind the first half of CBS's Survivor and ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Although it came third, its 6.1/10 numbers were above its season average giving the show a more fitting send-off.
Overall ABC averaged 9.5/16 for the evening, and CBS ranked a closer-than-normal second with 8.4/14. NBC, Fox and the WB trailed behind. ABC was also top in the 18–49 demographic with a 6.1 rating. FOX, which normally ranks second, had to settle for third after the demo-friendly Survivor helped CBS come second with 4.9.
