The episode was directed by Arlene Sanford—her fifth episode to date—and was written by Jenna Bans, her second episode after "Suspicious Minds".

The episode title this week is taken from a Stephen Sondheim song that was in the 1990 film Dick Tracy, and was sung by Mel Torme. You can read the lyrics of the song.
"Children Will Listen" will air on ABC on Sunday April 17 2005 at 9pm.
