Is she a sweet innocent nun? Or does she, as Gabrielle suspects, have sights on Carlos? Melinda Page Hamilton, the actress that plays Sister Mary Bernard, indicated that a bit of both could be true.
"In Sister Mary's mind, her relationship with Carlos is definitely about saving his soul," she told TV Guide recently. "But underneath, there's an attraction brewing."
In an upcoming episode, Gabrielle gets Sister Mary transferred to Alaska. But when she goes to gloat, sparks fly. "I was determined not to do any direct homage to Dynasty," creator Marc Cherry said, referring the show which had its fair share of catfights. "Doing a catfight with a nun in a
church just seemed to be taking the iconic soap-opera catfight to a much naughtier place."
Cherry also spoke to The New York Times, and is maintaining a poker face ahead of the Golden Globes where the show is up for five awards. "I hold this face until it's over, whether I win or lose," he said. He also said he kept the Golden Globe he won last year "on a shelf in a hidden area."
