Lesley Ann Warren People Guide Hello World! Who else thought "I Know Things Now" was a real return to form for Housewives? I found myself laughing a lot throughout, and it felt like it had a bit of edge back with house burnings, poisonings and Bree's remarkable turn against Andrew.
I think part of the problem with the show is that we know the characters now, and the writers can't be blamed for that. Part of the appeal was how the characters had secrets and we didn't really know them. They were enigmas. The more you get to know them, the less they can surprise us. So when they do surprise us, it's just like old times. Did you think Edie would set fire to Susan's house? I certainly didn't.
That's not to say I don't have some grumbles. The writers have wasted Alfre Woodard this year. And, more than that, what the hell has happened with the Scavos? Last year they were among the best characters, this year I just want them gone from the show. Mostly due to Ed, who has to be one of the most annoying and worst written character to grace TV screens. The writers need to get over these childish office stories because they are really dragging down what seems to be the show's creative resurgence.
