Online reviewers have weighed in on the latest Desperate Housewives.

Here's what they had to say about "There Is No Other Way":

  • Annie Barrett reviewing for EW.com said a slightly different angle was taken on many of the familiar stories of Desperate Housewives, and in particular she liked Bree and Andrew's story:

Bree and Andrew continued their tradition of sort of loving and definitely hating each other at the same time. I suppose the alteration to this routine of theirs is just that it's getting increasingly out of control, to the point where I can't even believe something so screwed up, painful, and somehow convincingly real is happening on TV. I've never gotten quite as invested in this story line as I did tonight. Even after all the hitting (Bree slapping Andrew, Justin punching Andrew—in the name of love, of course), I didn't really start caring about their problems until the end, when Bree hurled a bottle of white toward the refrigerator. Now that caught my attention! Bree loves white wine. We must really have a problem!

You can read here full analysis over at EW.com.

  • But Dave Anderson at TV Guide Online also enjoyed many of the moments in this episode, but did notice some omissions. "How about the look on Felicia's face when Paul got out of the police car all bruised up, approached Felicia, grabbed a macaroon and said, 'How did you know I love macaroons?' Such a Twin Peaks kind of moment. Once again, I thought Doug Savant did a fantastic job showing Tom's constant feeling of inferiority around Lynette. You knew he was not havin' it when Lynette suddenly got on top while they were fooling around in bed. My only complaints about tonight's episode: Where was Alfre Woodward? But more importantly: Where was my Nicollette Sheridan?"

  • Keith McDuffee at TV Squad didn't sound too pleased, and likened Housewives to Providence. "Basically, a show suffers from Providence Syndrome when it finds the need to place funky, stringed instrument plucks during humorous scenes, as if to say, 'hey everyone, this is a funny scene so we're going to throw some of these plucky notes at you.' You know the tune: blump blump...blump blump! Watch just about any scene featuring Susan and you'll hear that tune." But McDuffee did note that "finally there were some decent scenes with Susan's story".

  • RT at Desperate for Desperate Housewives was surprised by the reason for Bree's AA attendance. "I've said this before but it's worth saying again: on any other show, a storyline involving a character attending AA for the first time would've involved a teary intervention, or Bree almost hurting someone thanks to her drinking, or even Bree actually hurting someone. But the show managed to get past convention by having Bree go to AA for all the wrong reasons. I am fairly confident that before tonight, no one on TV ever attended AA because their gay sociopath son framed them for an injury." More "random comments" can be found at Desperate for Desperate Housewives, as can a scene-by-scene analysis.

  • There is also brief recap at Television Without Pity, where visitors have so far rated the episode A- in a poll.

  • Finally, to tide you over to the next new episode, there is a new episode of Desperate Houseflies online.
