Felicity Huffman People Guide,
Nicollette Sheridan People Guide Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo) and Nicolette Sheridan (Edie Britt) revealed recently that they were both having a difficult time with their careers before Desperate Housewives, and how that dented their confidence.
"I'd done several pilots and several series, and, although some have lasted a while, they've all died ignominious deaths," Huffman told the Telegraph. "So I thought I was the anthrax of television series, and I would infect this one as well. When I finally realized it was going to make the distance, I was pleased because it means I'm on a hit show that doesn't suck and I have a job. I'm very, very pleased and grateful."
Sheridan also found she was having a hard time before joining the show after taking a break from acting. "When I finished Knots Landing I went on a self-imposed hiatus because I had been working so hard for years," Sheridan explained. "Then, when I decided I was ready to come out of retirement and do something else, the offers weren't there any more. It was a little bit shocking."
Sheridan started to write a script for a show of her own, but then Desperate Housewives came along. "I'm definitely much more appreciative this time around, and now I can wholly embrace the experience and enjoy it every step of the way. It's an incredible ride, and I am so incredibly grateful."
Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer), who has often said was a "has-been" before landing her Desperate Housewives role, said she is happy to be on the show—and effectively quashed rumors that she wants to move on to a movie career. "I don't think of television as a springboard to something else," she said. "I don't have a higher goal like wanting to be a movie star. It's just really great to be right here."
The full interview where Hatcher also admitted to crying on her kitchen floor, as well as quotes from Marcia Cross (Bree Van De Kamp) and Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis), can be found at the Telegraph website. Discuss this news item at Talk Desperate!
