Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer) has signed on to front a hair dye product range by Clairol.
According to LA Daily News, Hatcher will be the new spokeswoman for Clairol's Nice 'n Easy hair color. "I'm not the kind of person who can get involved in things I don't believe in," she told Associated Press. "I'm a very honest and open person. I'm not a good liar. I might be an OK actress but I'm not a good liar."
Apparently Hatcher has a "spot of gray" since she was 25, and uses medium golden brown hair dye. She said that it meant a lot to her to front a cosmetic product. "In all my career, in my ups and downs, I've never had a beauty campaign. This was meaningful that at almost 41 years old, I could be getting my first beauty campaign," she said. "It made me feel really great." Patrice Louvet, vice president of global hair colorants for Clairol, said she feels they have a perfect match. "Both Teri and Clairol have a similar appeal and a similar personality. They're approachable, natural, relatable."
Hatcher's contract is the latest in a growing number of deals for Desperate Housewives castmembers, and the New York Times recently ran an article on the cast's growing appeal to advertisers. In April Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis) signed on to be the new face of L'Oreal, and Nicolette Sheridan (Edie Britt) and Marcia Cross (Bree Van De Kamp) filmed an advertisement for 7-Up back in July.
