Online reviewers have weighed in on the latest Desperate Housewives.

Here's what they had to say about "I Know Things Now":

  • Chris Evans at BlogCritics.org declared Desperate Housewives was back "to full form". He analysed the show's troubles in season two, before commending the episode and in particular Marcia Cross (Bree Van De Kamp):

"Marcia Cross delivered what was an Emmy-worthy performance: the last scene where she came out of the house, hair down, no make-up, worn and tattered and on what we thought was a trip to visit Andrew's college, dropped him off at a gas station with a bag and some money was truly one of the best this show has ever seen. This woman killed that scene like it was a sex offender who lived next door. Finally, the excellent Alfre Woodard (who has been underused the entire season), was finally given something to work with. And the moment she grabbed Caleb's arm when he told her Matthew had sent him to Danielle's, you knew something was going down. Betty Applewhite locking the other son in the basement was priceless. For all the evil that goes on on this show, it's great to see two people get what they deserve."

You can read his full analysis over at EW.com.

  • Keith McDuffee at TV Squad was also positive, albeit with a backhanded compliment. "Alright, I think we're on a roll here. It's too bad we had to wait until the last few episodes of the season for things to really get good. So far this season has felt like an Oreo cookie with a turd for filling. I'm just hoping the second cookie remains as good as the first one." He also seemed to support Bree's actions. "Finally, Bree takes the step she likely should have taken a longer time ago. I'm not saying it would've been an easy decision to make, but didn't her son just take one step too far this time? While sure, she didn't take to his being gay at all, he's using it as a lame reason for why he should be set free."

  • Annie Barrett at EW.com, said she couldn't feel sorry for Andrew and praised Marcia Cross for her acting. "It was difficult to feel sorry for Andrew during that final scene in which his mother banished him from their home. He had slept with Peter (ew, Peter) and uttered the words 'strip down to your bra and panties...now' to his own sister (ew, Danielle). Not surprisingly, Bree seemed decidedly un-Bree while abandoning her son. Her hair was stringy, her line readings were monotone and defeated, and her face looked even more ghastly than its usual shade of eggshell. Marcia Cross didn't even need to speak to act the hell out of that scene. When Andrew tried to convince her (and himself) that he had 'won,' she looked like the life had been sucked out of her. More than their other fights in the past, this seemed to be a final turning point—instead of fighting back and prolonging the tension as she usually does, the exhausted Bree simply drove away."

  • But Dave Anderson at TV Guide Online didn't agree with Bree's tactics. "Leaving Andrew on the street in the middle of nowhere like that? Wow. When Andrew was questioning Peter about his sex-addict past, I thought, 'No way — he couldn't go there,' but he did. The perfect way to get back at his mother: sleep with her sponsor and her object of desire. I was already dying at Danielle dressing up like a slut and feeling up Peter under the table. Oh, children."

  • There is also brief recap at Television Without Pity, where visitors have so far rated the episode A- in a poll.
