Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry has reportedly said that Jesse Metcalfe (John Rowland) will be leaving the show in season two.
According to TV Guide Online's Ausiello, Cherry told him that Metcale would only appear in a "handful" of episodes in season two. However, fans of Metcale and his character shouldn't get too upset. "I'm hoping to get him back next season for a bigger story," Cherry revealed.
The news confirms a recent rumor at E! Online which said the actor would be in less episodes this coming season. But his potential long-term abseence from the show does allow Metcalfe to pursue other projects. Earlier in the year he signed on to his first feature film John Tucker Must Die. He's was also reportedly signed on to star in The Picture of Dorian Gray, but is no longer listed on that project at the IMDb.
Meanwhile, Cherry added yet another name to the pile of actresses who almost audtioned for, auditioned for, or who was considered for a Desperate Housewives role. Cherry said he would have liked Friends actress Courtney Cox in the role of Susan Mayer. "I'm the hugest Courteney Cox fan," he said. "For about two seconds I considered going after her for the part... but then we heard she was taking time off to have a baby. But of course, I'm so glad we ended up with Teri Hatcher."
