Popular men's magazine Maxim announced today they have placed Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis) at the top of their annual Hot 100 list.

"This year has been amazing for me," Longoria said in a press release issued by the magazine. "To be on the #1 television show and for Maxim to choose me as #1 on their Hot 100 list is incredible."

According to Maxim editor Ed Needham, their list is the "end result of a process in which experts examine thousands of beautiful women and refine them down to the very hottest." Physical beauty isn't the only criterium - career success and buzz factor are taken into account as well. Last year Longoria made her first appearance on the list, but without the Desperate Housewives phenomenon behind her, she only ended up at 91st place.

"Considering all the women in the world, No. 91 isn't all that bad," Longoria told USA Today. "But [last year] I didn't go to the [annual Hot 100 celebration] party, because I don't think anyone wants the 90s at the party."

Longoria said it was "kind of exciting and shocking at the same time" to make it to the top of the list. She's the only Housewive to be featured on the list, but her co-stars didn't seem to hold a grudge. "What's hot about Eva is her smile, her laugh, her joie de vivre," said Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo). "And following all of that, her [behind.]"

According to Longoria, a big reason why the Maxim editors ended up picking her must have been the appeal of her character to the young men that read the magazine. "Maxim and Gabrielle go hand in hand," she said. "Gabrielle's sexy, confident and sensual, and I think Maxim shows those beautiful qualities in their women. When you look at the Top 10, it's singers or working actors who are doing really good things in the entertainment business."

Other women in the top 10 included Lindsay Lohan, Cameron Diaz and Angelina Jolie.
