• Trade paper Variety carries a review of Hot Properties, ABC's new sitcom starring Christine Estabrook (Martha Huber). Estabrook plays the "starched, disapproving mother" of the show's lead character, a role for which she gained praise from Variety.

• This season, ABC introduced the option to watch Desperate Housewives with Spanish dubbing. Unfortunately, the system doesn't appear fool-proof yet: according to an article in the LA Times, viewers in some parts of Southern California were all forced to watch the Spanish version of the show, following a glitch at cable company Adelphia.

• Meanwhile, Spanish-language network Univision contends that ABC's dubbed broadcasts won't steal any viewers away from them. The full report on this can be found at Variety.

• In Canada, another DH slip-up occurred, as broadcaster CTV accidentally showed two segments of the show twice, skipping over another section of last Sunday's episode. The network has placed the missing segment online.

• Variety reports that Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis) has joined fast-growing talent agency CAA.

• This Thursday, five of the men of Desperate Housewives -- Doug Savant (Tom Scavo), James Denton (Mike Delfino), Mark Moses (Paul Young), Steven Culp (the late Rex van de Kamp) and Ricardo Chavira (Carlos Solis) -- will be appearing on Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown. • This week, the new film In Her Shoes opened in American cinemas. A minor role in the film is played by Richard Burgi, who now has a regular role on Desperate Housewives as Karl Mayer. To capitalise on his new-found fame, film studio 20th Century Fox has posted a special trailer on its web site focusing on Burgi's scenes; a trailer that they are are also airing in a special version around the Desperate Housewives broadcasts. • Ultimate Desperate Housewives has posted transcripts of the first and second episodes of the season.

• Inspired by a newspaper article saying that sleepover parties are the new hip thing to do with your grownup girlfriends, TV Squad asks what you would do if you hosted a Desperate Housewives-themed sleepover.

• Hamilton Camp, who played Brian Linder on last year's episode "Suspicious Minds," passed away last week at the age of 71. More on this can be found at our sister site TrekToday.

• RelishNow notes that one of the effects of Desperate Housewives has been to make laugh tracks seem completely obsolete for sitcoms.

• According to ChoSun.com, DH has proven to be a rare foreign success in South Korea, sparking hope with industry executives that other foreign series might follow suit.
