Online reviewers have weighed in on the latest Desperate Housewives episode.

Here's what they had to say about "In The Woods":

  • Karen Leigh at EW.com last week raved about how great the episode was, but this week didn't seem too excited:

All in all, a decent episode, improved slightly by Susan's brilliantly ditzy (but also seriously heartfelt, so kudos to Hatcher) 'I've always loved you'/'I don't want any more drama' call, which she made, miraculously, on a cell phone from deep in the woods. (Hello, I can barely get service near the Central Park boat pond.) 'Unless I get eaten by a mountain lion,' she snuffled, 'and, you know, that'll be dramatic, but it won't be my fault.' (She said this after trying to use tree moss as a compass and getting her skinny butt lost.) This was a nicer moment, than, say, Lang dramatically turning from Gaby to stare meaningfully into the fireplace, or Carlos making Edie be a better mom. But damn, Fenway was cute.
You can read her full analysis over at EW.com.

  • Dave Anderson at TV Guide Online was afraid that Susan would ruin the episode. "I was kind of dreading the 'Susan searches for Mike in the woods' part of this episode, since I've never been a fan of the klutziness of Susan and I figured this scenario would be chock-full of pratfalls. Luckily, Susan only fell once. What made her woodsy adventures so much fun was the hilarious Rusty Schwimmer as Toni, the hiking guide assigned to escort the very talkative Susan through her two-day hike for Mike. Toni to Susan: 'You need to rest a second? You sound winded.' Then, after a bug flew in Susan's mouth: 'The bugs can't get in if you keep your mouth shut.'"

  • Jen Creer at TV Squad said the "storylines are fantastic right now", and felt Susan was right to go after Mike. "Susan is everything her guide said she is. She is a drama queen who doesn't know simply how to be happy. Maybe that is another reason she broke up with Ian. Maybe she figured that life would be too boring with him. Don't get me wrong. I am not defending Ian. Good riddance. It's a testament to Dougray Scott that he can be so likeable in Ever After and so horrid in DH. On the other hand, Mike does love Susan, warts and all. So, I'm glad that she went after him, in typical Susan fashion. But honestly, doesn't anybody on this show suffer the ill effects of hypothermia and dehydration?"

  • There is also brief recap at Television Without Pity, where visitors have so far rated it a B.
