Steven Culp (Rex Van De Kamp) recently told fans that he's looking forward to what the future of Desperate Housewives has in store.
"We have just completed the season finale of DH, and all I can tell you is that there are many surprises in store," Culp wrote in a letter posted at fan site Totally Steven. "Some of them are a secret even for me!"
Culp went on to describe the rollercoaster year that was behind him, and seemed to hint that the character of Rex won't be among those Husbands rumored to be written out of the show (story). "It's been a great year, and quite unexpected; last year at this time I was in Oregon shooting The Sisters, with no idea I'd be doing Desperate Housewives. Amazing what can happen in a year. And maybe I'm foolishly optimistic, but I believe the best is still to come."
The Sisters is a new indie film based on Anton Chekov's famous play The Three Sisters. It deals with siblings living in a college town who struggle with the death of their father and try to reconcile relationships in their own lives. The film was directed by Arthur Allan Seidelman, and had its premiere at the Tribeca film festival, where Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo) won an award for her role in Transamerica (story).
"I did see The Sisters at the Tribeca Festival, and I thought it was quite good," Culp wrote. "I can't comment on my own performance, but I will say that some of the other actors in this movie will knock your socks off (assuming you are wearing socks at the time)." Culp went on to say the film didn't yet have a distribution deal, but he was sure the quality of the film would allow it to be released in some kind of fashion.
The full letter from Culp, in which he also commented on the quality of fan letters sent to him, can be found here at Totally Steven. The site has also released a new edition of its quarterly newsletter, featuring a round-up of Culp news, word of a JAG convention they'll be appearing at, and several reprinted interviews with the actor.
