Marc Cherry People Guide Marcia Cross (Bree Van De Kamp) is interviewed in the latest edition of TV Guide and is featured on the cover.
"I personally think Bree is totally lost," she told TV Guide. "Bree's husband's dead, her kids are estranged, she's drinking, and she's alone. This woman clearly needs professional help!" Creator Marc Cherry could be considered cruel, but he said the Bree is "special" to him. "Bree is absolutely the most special character for me because I modeled her after my mother," Cherry said. "But that also means she requires the most attention and analysis."
Talking about Bree's descent into alcoholism, Cross said: "I always felt intuitively that Bree couldn't handle her liquor, and lately it's gotten completely out of hand. Bree's always needed to drink. On one hand, it loosens her up, but it also lets loose her demons. Alcohol makes her less responsible, angrier, more talkative." Marc Cherry added: "All that WASPy repression needs an escape hatch, and it's only going to get worse."
