The first episode Desperate Housewives in 2006 delivered a typically strong result in the ratings.
Full numbers were unavailable at time of publication, but according to figures released by MediaWeek, "One More Kiss" scored a 16.5 rating with a 23 share. These figures mean that of all households in the United States with television sets, 16.5% were tuned into DH, as well as 23% of those households actually watching television on Sunday at 9:00pm.
Desperate Housewives lead-out Grey's Anatomy wasn't as strong as normal though, with its 11.6/18 markedly down on last year. As it retained less of Desperate Housewives' viewers than normal, Programming Insider Marc Berman removed it from its usual spot on his winner's list for the evening.
Thanks to its NFL Football, CBS dominated much of the night and snatched a rare victory over ABC. CBS's 11.8/17 beat ABC's 11.0/16, and ABC was down 15% on last year when Desperate Housewives scored a 17.8/24 rating.
