TV analyst Marc Berman has predicted that when Desperate Housewives gets a spin-off show it will focus on the character of Mike Delfino.
"If I had to predict, I'd say James Denton [Mike Delfino] will have a Desperate Housewives spinoff in the fall of 2006," syndicated entertainment columnist Marc Berman said on a recent edition of Extra. Previously, ABC had been rumored to be interested in a spin-off starring Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer), but a Mike Delfino series would have the benefit of not taking away one of the four DH lead actresses.
In early February, DH creator Marc Cherry already confirmed that ABC was interested in a Desperate Housewives spin-off, but cautioned that although he had an idea for the show, he didn't think he'd have the time to write it for a few more years.
Berman also gave some details on what's in store for Gabrielle. "In addition to her husband Carlos and her young lover, she will have somebody else that does not know she is pregnant," he said. This could indicate that Gabrielle may be the character that will reportedly go for a fling in pastures new.
Meanwhile, Nicolette Sheridan (Edie Britt) said that her character will be having some life-changing stories. "A new house, a 6-year-old child, an affair with someone near and dear to Susan," said Sheridan. Berman meanwhile warned of "problems ahead" for the Susan and Mike. Teri Hatcher, however, does not know what is coming for her character. "I know nothing, what else is new," she said.
