Online reviewers have weighed in on the latest episode of Desperate Housewives.
Here's what they had to say about "You Could Drive a Person Crazy":
- Many reviewers complained about Susan Mayer last season, and Sarah Gilbert at TV Squad provided this season's first complaint about the character. "By far the least compassion I feel for any character: Susan. My God. Can she please stop making up stupid rules that limit her own happiness? If she would just get over herself and be with Mike already! And forget about her husband. It would certainly help her insurance bill, which has got to be huge after running over Edie's leg. And the whining... oh the whining... when she squeaks, "This was supposed to be my time!" I want to slap her."
- But Jeff at Desperate for Desperate Housewives continued to warm to Susan, after some positive comments in his review last week:
I enjoyed the re-introduction of Karl into Susan's life. Karl dating Edie behind Susan's back but with Julie's knowledge just reeked of a plot being made up for the second season that clearly wasn't planned until now, but the potential plot twists with Karl now added to the mix are too delightful for me to care too much. It was good to see Susan with Karl, Edie, Mike, and Julie, although we didn't get to see her too much with any of them, so Susan was definitely the lead in her story, as things should be. I'm also happy to see Susan's clumsiness continues.

- Michael Slezak reviewing for EW.com said he felt like Rex's mother isn't up to the task of being Bree's nemesis:
I'm not saying Shirley Knight is anywhere near as annoying as last year's most dubious guest star (that'd be Leslie Ann Warren as Susan's mom, for those of you lucky enough to have missed her), but Phyllis Van De Kamp simply isn't formidable enough to match the Iron Housewife. The next time glorious Bree raises her hand in anger, let's hope there's a worthy adversary on the receiving end. Maybe the paperboy?

- However Damian J. Holbrook at TV Guide Online did not like the violence in the episode. "Um, I hate to break it to ABC, but the wives are becoming less desperate and more psychotic. Seriously, I understand the horror of a messy house, but Lynette's releasing a rat in her own home to 'bend Tom to her will' has me fearing that she shares a few too many attributes with certain serial killers who tortured animals in their youth." - John Duran at InsidePulse.com posted a recap of the episode. He was rather brief in his0 "final word": "Another average episode, as I still am only curious about the Applewhite storyline. Otherwise, I could [not] care less about any of the Housewives."
- Erin McMaster in a recap/review at Blogcritics.org said the story with Gabrielle is getting tiresome. "Apparently a guy is harassing Carlos for some money that Gabrielle is to deliver to his girlfriend—for a boob job. I'm ready for something new to happen with Gabrielle. The tidbits we get when she visits Carlos are getting old, and they aren't really that compelling of a storyline either. But I am glad she told that girl not to get a boob job if she didn't want it. Rock on Gabrielle!."
- Candice, in her review at Desperatefans.org, is also hoping that Gabrielle's story shows some improvement, and thinks there's a lot of potential for her this season. "I'm hoping that the Gabrielle/Carlos storyline picks up. Gabrielle's pregnant and I'd love to see the writers begin to introduce all the quirks and situations that come along with women being pregnant. Many of you have expressed that you don't like the idea of Gabrielle being pregnant; she's too self-absorbed, selfish, and her life style doesn't include children. Well, you'd be right! But, as Marc Cherry said about this season, its all about change. Think about how Gabrielle will react to all the situations (bloating, nausea, emotions, hormones) that come along with pregnancy as a self-absorbed, selfish person."
- There is also brief recap at Television Without Pity, where visitors have so far rated the episode B- in a poll.
- Finally, too tide you over until the next new epsisoede, there is a new edition of Desperate Houseflies online.
