Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer) has signed on to appear in Resurrecting the Champ.
The story is based on a Los Angeles Times article, according to Reuters, and is about a reporter who finds a homeless man who he thinks is a famous boxer but turns out to be a lesser-known fighter of the same era. Hatcher will play a TV executive, and she joins Josh Hartnett and Samuel L. Jackson.
This will be Hatcher's first big screen role since she returned to the limelight with Desperate Housewives. Her last appearance in movie theatres was in 2001's Spy Kids. Her biggest film was in 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies, but her role was savaged, her scenes cut and then following the birth of her daughter that year she mostly left the public eye.
The movie will be directed by Rod Lurie, who created ABC's initially-successful Commander in Chief. However he was replaced by the network early in the show's run and the program's ratings subsequently collapsed. He recently pitched a Commander in Chief telemovie to the network, and it is currently under consideration.
