Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer) recently admitted that after the end of her marriage to actor Jon Tenney she was desperate for work, and how Desperate Housewives came along just at the right time.
With a child to support, "suddenly I was going to need to go back to work," she told Complete Woman. "I read the script and it was the best thing I had read in five years. I met with the producers and begged them for a role. I said I'd make coffee on set! Anything. I wanted on the show that badly."
Now, with her career firmly a success once again, Hatcher is grateful for another chance. "I feel I've had nice lives or nine careers," she said. "I think what's great about being older and having had what feels like so many jump-starts in a career is you understand the fragility of it all and you appreciate every single second. I know this year I'm eating steak at the Golden Globes, but next year I could be serving the steak!"
Even though she had a tough period, Hatcher said she is anything but 'desperate'. "The survivor part of me doesn't allow me to look at life as out of options. I have the power to create them myself."
The full interview can be found in the Dec 05/Jan 06 edition of Complete Woman. Scans of the article, and the cover featuring Hatcher, are be found online at Desperatefans.org. Discuss this news item at Talk Desperate!
