ABC recently unveiled an advertisement to promote the launch of Desperate Housewives season two, which focuses on the apple theme seen in the credits as well as the term "juicy".
With clouds flying by, the promo starts with Susan alking between raining apples. She opens a refrigerator and is engulfed by apples, only to fall beside Mike whom she kisses. As the singer says "juicy", Susan mimes to the word and we transfer to Bree in the kitchen cutting up apples. We see blood come from one of the apples, zoom up to the sky, then back to Bree who mimes to the singer saying "juicy" once again.
Blood drops from Bree's knife, and we transition to Gabrielle in a bath of apples. She looks out the window to see Carlos angrily looking in. All of a sudden his surroundings change, and he is locked up in jail. Gabrielle throws an apple in the air and catches it, miming to the "juicy" vocal. We then go to Lynette who is juggling with apples, but the apples are moving horizontally. Tom appears with their baby in his arms, and throws a briefcase to Lynette who drops the apples to grab it. She then mimes to "juicy".
Finally we transfer to a Garden of Eden-like apple tree, with a mirror on it and a snake hanging down. Edie turns to the camera shocked, then takes an apple. This leads into the end of the promo, which asks "Tempting, isn't it?" followed by the Desperate Housewives logo. Edie comes back to mime to the final "juicy", and then the ABC logo finishes off the ad.
The ad can currently be seen on ABC, and is part of a marketing drive by the network that began this month. It continues a theme that is used in the other areas of the network's campaign. As previously reported, ABC is continuing to promote the show via laundry bags. But this year some bags will come with free t-shirts inside. They will feature the Desperate Housewives logo, an apple and the "It's So Juicy" strapline.
