Co-executive producer Kevin Murphy recently said that Rex Van De Kamp was "dead, dead, dead". But it's not put a stop to rumors that he's maybe alive, alive, alive.
E! Online's Kristin, who has a regular column that reveals spoilers for TV shows, said that "sources close to the show" told her one storyline being discussed is that Rex faked his own death to get away from Bree, because he believes she's been poisoning him. She said this means Steven Culp (Rex Van De Kamp) could be back next season.
Culp meanwhile spoke to TV Guide about his departure. He said he was called into the producers' office and knew he was up for the axe. But he explained that he wasn't angry. "If it's where [creator Marc Cherry] wants to go, I'm not going to argue, because it's his vision that made the show such a huge hit." Culp also revealed that he suggested Rex's bondage storyline be taken further. "I did mention [doing more of] the S&M stuff, and Marc said we pretty much went as far as we could with that on network television. I'm not quite sure if he was ready to see his surrogate mother in bondage gear."
Marcia Cross, arriving at The Tonys, didn't seem to quash the rumors. "As far as Bree is concerned, he's dead," was all she would say reported USA TODAY.
