Jesse Metcalfe (John Rowland) Sunday won his first solo award in his still short career, taking home the Exciting New Face prize at the 7th annual Young Hollywood Awards.
"It means people are excited about you, I guess," Metcalfe told Michael Cidoni at the Associated Press (via TwinCities.com). "Maybe people in the industry, or just the viewing public, you know, in general, so that's a cool thing."
The awards, which are presented by Movieline's Hollywood Life magazine, were presented Sunday by CSI actress Aisha Tyler. The event attracted stars such as Gwen Stefani, Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Alba - as well as Metcalfe's co-stars Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis) and Marcia Cross (Bree Van De Kamp).
"Do I have to explain that to you?," Cross asked AP, presumably after being asked why Metcalfe deserved the award. "Oh my God! You mean, besides the fact that he's gorgeous and talented, apparently quite a good musician."
Metcalfe previously shared the Best Comedy Ensemble award from the Screen Actors Guild with his fellow Desperate Housewives stars, but this marked the first award he won all on his own. In 2000, he was also once nominated for a Soap Opera Digest Award for his role on Passions. "Everything concerning Desperate Housewives has been a dream come true, and I've been enjoying the ride," Metcalfe said.
