With two small children herself, Felicity Huffman said recently that she is a lot like her character Lynette Scavo. And, like her character, going back to work is actually a break from the hardwork of being a mother.
"This is a vacation," said told NEWS.com.au, referring to her work on Desperate Housewives. "People bring me cups of tea here. I have a trailer." But before landing the role on the show, her life as a stay-at-home mom mirrored that of Lynette Scavo in season one. Huffman's husband William H. Macy "would leave for three months to do a movie and I'd be home with the kids—it was tough."
Huffman explained that she went abroad once when Macy was filming, but it certainly wasn't a holiday. "When he was doing Sahara I went over for a weekend but you know, he was in Morocco and Spain," she said. "It sounds great but you try taking a two and a three-year-old to Morocco and Spain. You just want to shoot yourself in the head."
The similarities between her and her character don't go unnoticed, but Huffman said that it's quite normal to be like her character. "Unless you're playing a very defined character, which doesn't happen a whole lot in television, it's a mix of you and the character It always blends."
