It's not just the residents of Wisteria Lane that have secrets to keep: Desperate Housewives co-executive producer Kevin Murphy revealed recently that it's getting increasingly harder to keep the show's plot developments under wraps.
Promising the show be delivering "some really giantic surprises" in the future, Murphy told USA Today that the writers were considering steps to throw the rumour mill off the scent. "We have the option of shooting something at the last minute," he said. "We may feed disinformation to actors. And we're also talking about shooting multiple versions of scenes."
The writers are also careful when the media are carrying out interviews at the studio. "When [ABC News Anchor] Diane Sawyer shot an interview in the writers' office she had to promise to not point the camera at our wall of plot," he said.
It's not just the writers of Desperate Housewives who value plot secrecy. Josh Schwartz, creator of Fox's The O.C. said: "It's annoying, because part of the pleasure you derive from a show like ours or Lost or Desperate Housewives that's twisty or turny is you want to be surprised by the twists and turns."
